A Time for all Seasons©2016 Linda Steele |
It was interesting to read the judges report, one of them loved it and gave me all excellent scores, the second judge gave me both excellent and satisfactory, so I guess that means that it is in between the two. The third judge gave me mostly satisfactory because she didn't like the scale of my work; she said that my elements while beautiful didn't work well together. I assume she means that I can't make a butterfly in one patch bigger than a bird in another patch. At least I know why I didn't get a prize now. I have never had anyone tell me that everything should be in scale in a crazy quilt before. I am not sure that it is right but I'll keep it in mind if I ever make one again.
Bye for now,
Linda

I don't think you should worry, just one person's opinion, keep doing what you are doing, I love what you do.
Thanks for the vote of confidence Jude, it's never easy to hear that someone doesn't like your quilt though.
I saw it in person at Houston and it looked pretty wonderful to me.
Thank you so much Connie, it's lovely to hear from someone who saw it at Houston.
I used to show (and raise) horses and at some of the 3day/3judge shows I would place 1st with one judge, 3rd with another and zip with the 3rd. You/We are only asking what that particular judge likes. Your work is wonderful and even with 'wonderful' not everyone will 'like' it! HA Your blog friends all think this quilt is spectacular!
Thanks Robbie, I know you are right. We are all different and you can't please everyone.
I used to get some odd comments from judges when I entered my quilts into local agric. shows, but I took them all on board because I figured they were more experienced than me and had a right to criticise my humble offerings!
Sounds like the third judge in your case just got out of bed on the wrong side that morning.
Thanks for your vote of support Gina. I have judged before and sometimes it is really hard to choose between quilts and it comes down to nit picking. You pick one quilt but you could easily have chosen the other.
